Our client a manufacturer of specialty chemicals is searching for a Materials Replenishment Planner for their Los Angeles, California facility. This position is responsible for maintaining adequate stocking levels of purchased items (raw materials and finished goods) that support the uninterrupted manufacture and shipment of all finished goods for the plant. This includes identifying current and forecasted inventory levels as compared to expected demand, and procuring all materials necessary to meet business needs by proficiently using established planning systems and processes. The duties of this position also encompass MRO and non-inventory purchasing.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead the process of inventory reduction by developing and maintain materials stocking/safety stock levels which both support customer service objectives and production and sales deviations, while minimizing the corporate inventory investment, and supporting operating plans.
- Compiles data using information from the computer system such as open customer orders, purchase orders, invoicing, inventory, back orders and historical data concerning shipments, usage, and sales.
- Analyzes and organizes on-hand inventory and demand data to develop a plan for the stocking of purchased goods. Enters subsequent purchase orders to be executed by the supply base.
- Owns the entry and maintenance of item information into the appropriate system(s), including item master entry, bills of materials, product pricing, and branch plant information.
- Works with Master Scheduler and other resources as appropriate to develop and maintain material stocking targets.
- Revises the stocking levels as sales and inventory requirements change. Inputs stocking levels, reorder points, case quantities and order min and max quantities, as needed, into the system.
- Accounts for inventories of purchased finished goods in consigned warehouses, and works closely with the replenishment planner to understand stocking levels and demand at these locations.
- Works and communicates frequently, with vendors to address cost, quality, and delivery issues.
- Communicate extended, severe, or repetitive vendor performance issues to Strategic Sourcing Analysts, and to the Supply Chain and Operations department management, and other business leaders as appropriate to proactively communicate issues and prioritize the resolution of problems.
Job Requirements
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s Degree in a related field,
- Five or more years related experience and/or training as a buyer, planner or scheduler in a manufacturing environment
- Experience with use of planning tools and systems, such as an MRP system, as well as work in an ERP system (such as JD Edwards) is preferred.
- Experience purchasing resins is a strong plus
